Quasar is a small ginger cat who was found as a kitten by Flashfire. Since he was on assignment at the time, Flashfire had to smuggle the kitten back to Central and hide him in his locker until the end of the day, when he was able to sneak him home. (Fortunately for both, no one bothered to ask Flashfire why his locker was mewing...)
Once he was safely home, the kitten was christened "Quasar", after the subject of Flashfire's Master's thesis (quasars, or quasi-stellar radio sources). Quasar has adjusted to life as a house cat, becoming fat, happy and spoiled. He takes every possible opportunity he can to cause trouble, from getting underfoot to escaping through an open window and roaming around the city until Flashfire can find him again.
